One month to be exact. Duos is my very first solo show. I’ve been part of a bunch of different shows, but never just me. Always wanted to, just never have. But this show is a little different than what I have done in the past. This show is a series of my favorite pop culture duos. We’re talking from TV, Movies, video games, musicians, everything.  And I’m aiming to have about 50 of them, possibly more. (Yes I’m still working on it, probably will until opening night) Stay tuned for more details as we get closer, but I will say it will be at the F+ Gallery in Santa Ana California. Opening night will be June 1st, Saturday night. SAVE THE DATE.

Here is my second piece for the SteamPOP show opening tonight. This one is not as obvious, unless you are a Back To The Future nerd like I am. This is the train featured at the end of the BTTF trilogy. It’s always been such a cool design that has caught my attention. Even just seeing the prop train on display at Universal Studios Orlando made my trips to Florida. That AND the Golden Girls house at Disney MGM Studios, but that’s a different obsession. At that scene when Doc rides in from who knows what year with this Jules Verne-like train, he says one of the coolest quotes. Yea, it’s a little cheesy, but I love it.

After teasing this art for a few months, I’m excited to finally show off this piece. It will be part of the SteamPOP premiere being held tomorrow night at the Rothick Art Haus in Anaheim. Doors open at 6pm, hope to see you there. There is a good chance most people wont know what this is, and that’s ok. This is based off a long gone Attraction from EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World. However this version of the Dreamfinder has a steam punk over lay. I have always wanted to do something steam punk based on EPCOT, and with this show came a great opportunity for that. Also in this version since we were doing a new take on it, I thought it would be cool to make his sidekick Figment (the little purple dragon) a little more menacing. The part I really enjoyed doing was giving him a slightly twisted vibe. Since he is all about YOUR imagination, I tried to make him feel like he is out on a mission “hunting” for your Imagination. Don’t worry, he will give you back your brain, when he is done with it.

Just bearly in time for Christmas. The Country Bear Jamboree Christmas Special at Disneyland was always a holiday tradition until the Attraction got ripped out in 2001. At least it still lives on in cyber space. This is the kind of Disneyland retro goodness that I love. A lot of the nostalgia from the Park comes from the 50′s & 60′s. And most of that may be awesome but for me it’s all about the 70′s & 80′s. It’s full of untapped inspirado for cool pop art. And I am sure it has nothing to do that I was born in 1977.

Head to 6:30 to check out Liver Lips McGrowl as Rock’n Roll Santa Baby. ( Or just enjoy the whole dang thing, classic Christmas goodness )

I’m really glad “The Love Guru” blew chunks because it would be next to impossible to work that movie in here. But who am I kidding, these are the 2 Mike Myers characters that he will always be known for. And maybe I am the only one, but I am so ready for an Austin Power’s 4. And it needs to take place in the early 80′s. Punk Rock scene of London, but i digress. I wanted to do something with Mike Myers that showed Wayne’s World & Austin Powers somehow in a mash up. There was a great Han Solo/Indiana Jones I saw recently and I think that lit a fire under me to knock this out. Thanks for the inspiration. William O’Neill. I know there has got to be a name for this piece but my brain is too fried at the moment. Anyone got any ideas?? Hope you think it’s excellent, …baby.

And just for the hell of it, here ya go.

I’ll admit ‘m not the least bit sad about the Twinkie news yesterday. I may have had 3 twinkies my entire life. But after all the hoopla yesterday about the Hostess announcement I thought something should be done in honor of the news. And this is what I spit out. Enjoy.

It has been way too long since I updated this site. And even longer since I’ve had time to make some new stuff.  I had this idea for a while and finally forced myself to crank it out this weekend. It’s inspired from the original Muppet Movie, but I hope you knew that already. Enjoy!

This Saturday opens up a must see new show at the F+ Gallery. Opening night is August 4th, 7pm – 10pm and if your in the Santa Ana part of OC this weekend do check it out. Unless you don’t like music and cool original art based on it. The theme of the “Off the Record” show is art based on music. Sweet name by the way. I’ll be featuring my Beatles painting “Get Back” in this show. Glad to be a part of it, thanks to Amy and Micah for the invite. Hope to see you there.

This is something I’ve had on deck for a while, glad I forced myself to sit down and crank it out tonight. His name is “Smart Ass”, and he’ll hang you and your laundry out to dry. I never realized that was his name. Probably because they never had the guts to put it on any of the toys. Hopefully you don’t need me to tell you he is from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”.  Which I am more than ready for a sequel. I’ve been having fun with a new extra styled look on the ol’ Adobe Illustrator. I really like how the lines in his face, mouth and neck are flowing, good times with that. It’s a fun direction. Trying to push it just a bit further than my normal stuff. You like?

I’ve been meaning to do a Steve Carrell/Michael Scott tribute for a while, ever since it was announced he was leaving The Office. So yes, this is totally late in the game since he has been gone for a while. But better late than never. After my Lots of Lloyd series I thought it would be cool to do something similar to all the personas of the world’s best boss. This was another case of how many do you do? It is almost endless for him, and the more I went back and rewatched his seasons, the more i realized it would be possible to do 50 or 75 easily. So maybe down the road I will add more, but for now, I like this little collection of some of my favorite Michael Scott characters. Did I miss any “must have” Michaels? Let me know.
