After months of working on these guys, I’m happy to be able to premiere them finally. Here are the 9 silhouettes I created for the Burton Show. I picked 9 because when split by 3, I was able to pick 3 from each decade of the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s. Wish I could have said I planned that but it was a happy accident. Come see them in person on display at the show. Opens Saturday night at the Rothick Art Haus in Anaheim CA.

Happy April Fools! You may have seen a Tim Burton Mary Poppins movie poster floating around the interwebs this past week. Well, I hate to break it to you but it’s fake. I sincerely hope you knew that already. We wanted to make a big deal about the announcement for our next show coming up in November, “The Burton Show”. And I think with this poster we succeeded at getting your attention. The damn thing went as viral as one could hope. For example visit Inside the Magic, the comments are all very entertaining. This upcoming, unofficial, non-affiliated tribute show will feature pop art inspired by the many films of Tim Burton. Look for new artwork based on movies like Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands and of course The Nightmare Before Christmas. This show is a chance for artists who are also big fans of Tim Burton to celebrate the creepy goodness of his entire career. We plan on having about 75 artists be a part of this one. If you are interested in participating in this show, you can email us at POPzillaGallery@gmail.com. Please be sure to mention “The Burton Show” in the subject. And please supply us with some samples of your art, as we want to make sure all art featured in the show is a good fit.
The “POPcade” Video Game Show (Opening May 10th), as well as “The Burton Show”(November 2014), will take place at the Rothick Art Haus in Anaheim California. Hope to see you at both shows. And as always feel free to show up in costume to each. We’ll make it worth your while. WINK.
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Here we have the leader of the club, Mickey Mouse, an agent of chaos. Toontown needs a better class of criminal and he’s gonna give it to them. His operation is small, but there’s a lot of potential for Disneyland “aggressive” expansion.
ok, ok, I’ll stop. I can go on, but I will spare you. This one pretty much is what it is. Taking a world famous corporate icon and mixing it with a instant modern classic of pop culture, and here you go. The idea to paint this came to me completely by accident this weekend while painting a mural in a kids room for a friend. I smeared some red on Mickey’s face and thought, “HEY, that looks kinda like the joker.” Two days later hear you go.
I’ve been asked already if I’m going to make this into a T-shirt. Well, no, but I am looking into making reproductions of this for sure. Hit me up if you would be interested, any of these paintings actually. But this will also most likely be on the invite for the upcoming gallery.
Hopefully we will see that soon. Stay tuned.
